Idle Hour launches Kakadu Plum vodka

Brisbane-born Idle Hour Vodka has launched a native-inspired, limited edition flavour, Kakadu Plum and Ginger.

Kakadu Plum and Ginger is the first of a native series and channels the taste of the Australian bush with a smooth vodka finish. Kakadu Plum is an Indigenous superfood with a deliciously tart taste, an aroma of stewed apples and pears and floral musk essence.

“Our latest creation showcases our ability to elevate vodka with native ingredients and is just the beginning of an even larger range expansion,” said co-founder and Director, Ewen Pettit.

“We are focused on showcasing how versatile Idle Hour can be. Native flavour was the perfect starting point for us.”

Idle Hour wins swag of medals

The release comes just weeks after the brand was awarded medals at both the Melbourne International Spirit Festival and San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

Idle Hour secured awards at the Melbourne Competition for both its filtered and unfiltered varieties of rye-based vodka, despite only being established out of the 2020 COVID-19 lockdowns.

The win came just weeks after the brand secured national distribution with premium drinks distributor Craft Revolution and just shy of two months after being awarding Silver medals at the prestigious San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

“Proud doesn’t begin to cover how we are feeling,” said Pettit. “To enter a field with so many heavy hitters and being awarded such recognition so early on is truly humbling.”

Distilled locally from Australian ingredients, the Idle Hour brand, is now preparing to expand its offering in coming weeks with the launch of an RTD range.

Idle Hour Kakadu Plum and Ginger Vodka is available at leading wholesalers, selected Dan Murphy’s and independent retailers as well as in on-premise outlets across the country.
