Whisky marketplace The Whisky List (TWL) has announced it is expanding its operations with the launch of a distribution team.
TWL will represent a group of premium whisky brands from Australia, Scotland and the United States, supplying hospitality and retail trade, and supporting local Australian distilleries with Sydney-based warehousing and logistics.
“The heart and soul of TWL is sharing great whisky with others,” explained co-founder Chris Ross. “With the new team in place, we now have the opportunity to champion a select few of our absolute favourites, and in the process, help support our great Aussie independent retailers with whisky that their customers will love.”
TWL will continue to expand direct-to-consumer sales, with a strong focus on education through their popular virtual tastings, exclusive bottlings, personalised recommendations and partnerships with independent online retailers, The Whisky Show and numerous whisky bars across Australia.

The brands in the new wholesale portfolio are the premium and limited edition expressions of major Scottish distilleries Bunnahabhain, Tobermory, Deanston, and Ledaig, all part of the Distell Group.
Co-founder Oliver Maruda said: “Long before we even dreamed of partnering with Distell, we personally championed these brands, simply because their products were worth talking about, so we are ecstatic about being able to officially import and distribute their premium and limited edition ranges in Australia.”
Ross added: “We’re really excited that whisky lovers down under are now going to get access to these highly sought after premium and rare whiskies that were previously only available overseas. And we’re really looking forward to helping more people discover these brands exclusively through indie retailers. They’re best placed to help customers with their great selection, product knowledge, tastings, education and are just best at helping consumers find great whisky.
“Each Distell brand has its own very unique character, however there’s a common thread of quality and dedication to craft across the portfolio. They bottle at a minimum of 46.3% – unless it’s cask strength and naturally lower than that – have kept, and are even introducing age statements, never use chill-filtration and never add colouring. The brands in the Distell portfolio are among the last great craft distilleries in Scotland.”
“The Whisky List unique e-commerce experience and their connections with Australian whisky enthusiasts provide an excellent platform for our single malts to continue their strong growth in Australia” said Guirec Danno, Managing Director for Distell for Asia Pacific.
The first shipment of stock due to land in Australia early October, with expressions available on The Whisky List website as well as their partner retailer websites and whisky bars across Australia.

TWL will also represent Tasmanian independent whisky bottler, Remnant Whisky Co, which has helped hundreds of small investors who were left in the lurch after the collapse of the Nant Distilling Co.
Additionally, The Whisky List will be importing and distributing whisky from US-based (VA) Reservoir Distillery, and boutique Scottish Independent Bottlers; Highlander Inn and Dram Mor. Further brands are to be announced in the coming months.
