Excited punters who are thirsty for an overdue yarn with friends are flock to their local watering holes today as pubs and clubs across NSW reopen their doors. And Furphy is shouting them free beers.
Kicking off today across the state, Furphy is giving fully COVID-19 vaccinated punters a free beer at participating venues as part of its national ‘Vaxxed to the Pub’ initiative.
“We’re thrilled that the day has arrived when we can extend some support for our hospitality mates, and shout everyone a free Furphy, straight from the keg,” said Lion Craft Director Malcolm Eadie. “We’re looking forward to seeing patrons enjoying that heavenly moment when the froth from their first fresh cold Furphy hits their lips.”
Furphy brewer Lion has delivered 30,000 kegs of beer to venues across the state in time for today’s reopening, reuniting locals with the keg-fresh beer they’ve been looking forward to for months.
Lion has also offered its staff located throughout Australia an afternoon off to spend at the pub when re-opening is safely ticked off by health authorities.
The brewer is encouraging other companies to follow suit if they can and get involved by giving their workforce a ‘Vaxxed to the Pub’ early mark sometime soon, and only when safe to do so.

“We’re urging our fellow Aussies to roll up their sleeves and get double-jabbed so that we can start to bring much needed business back to our struggling hospitality sector,” said Lion Managing Director James Brindley (above).
“Lion has committed to giving our employees an afternoon at the pub once reopened so that they can share stories and a couple of long overdue cold ones together in person. We want to encourage all Aussies who can to get fully vaccinated. We can’t wait for the Furphys to flow once more and give some much-needed foot traffic to our hospitality mates.”
