Lion has announced the national rollout of a new non-alcoholic version of the famous Irish stout Guinness in Australia.
The brew is a low-calorie option for those choosing to moderate, with just 16 calories per 100ml or just 70 calories per can.
The Australian release comes as stats indicate the continuing trend of drinkers seeking no or low alcohol alternatives. According to data from Lion Australia, the growth of alcohol-free beer remains strong, with No-Lo to alcohol-free beer’s share of the total beer market increasing year-on-year for the last four years.
Lion Brand Director of premium beer Albertus Lombard said: “As one of the world’s oldest and most loved drinks, Guinness continues to remain at the forefront of innovation. The launch of Guinness 0.0 is catering to consumer needs, without compromising on the signature Guinness flavour profile that its drinkers know and love.”
In July last year, Guinness Ireland announced it would triple production of the non-alcoholic version of the famed beer to meet a surge in demand in the domestic and global markets.
Lion is also preparing to quench the thirst of thousands of Aussies and international visitors alike as they come together this month to celebrate St Patrick’s Day. Punters across the nation will be celebrating St Patrick’s Day on 17 March, where it’s estimated the equivalent of 2.4 million pints of Guinness will be drunk in the lead up to and on the Irish holiday.
Guinness 0.0 is now available in 440ml cans to purchase in liquor stores nationally. RRP $15.99 for a 4-pack.
