To celebrate the approaching 100th anniversary of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Hickson House has launched the Harbour Bridge Gin Series.
Every year leading up to the historic milestone in 2032, a new limited-edition gin will be unveiled, each capturing a unique chapter of the bridge’s story.
The Harbour Bridge is closely connected to Hickson House Distilling Co, which is located in the heritage-listed Metcalfe Bond Store in the heart of Sydney. The building was used in the 1920s and 30s to store the timber and steel beams for the construction of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Some of those original steel beams can still be found in the venue, where Hickson House Gin is now being made at the foot of the Harbour Bridge.

Breaking Ground is the inaugural release of the Harbour Bridge Gin Series. It commemorates the historic moment of the turning of the first sod in 1923, marking the begin of the Bridge’s construction. An image of this monumental event is displayed on the inside of each of the individually numbered bottles.
The small batch gin is handmade by blending the base of the award-winning Hickson House Harbour Strength Gin with locally sourced botanicals, including Lemon Aspen and Lilly Pilly (which would have grown in the area during the time of the bridge’s construction).
Featuring bold juniper notes balanced with bright citrus and subtle berry aromas, Hickson Road said the vibrant, 42% ABV gin comes to life in classic gin cocktails or in its Harbour Bridge Gin & Tonic signature drink.
The gin will be available in 700ml bottles, exclusively at the Hickson House Distillery Store or Online Shop, as well as the Barrelhouse Cellars Bottleshop in The Rocks. It will be on a special launch menu at the Hickson House cocktail bar, The Duke of Clarence and the Barber Shop.
From 8. May, 2024, the gin will also be available at Sydney Airport, in exclusive partnership with Heinemann Australia Tax & Duty Free.
During Vivid Sydney (24 May – 15 June 2024), you can try the Harbour Bridge Gin at Sydney’s Bridgeclimb. Book a special Harbour Bridge climb to experience the spectacular views from the bridge overlooking the festival. After your climb, enjoy a complimentary Harbour Bridge Gin & Tonic at the Hickson House Celebration Bar.
