Beerfarm taps former Stone & Wood exec to drive international growth

West Australian independent craft brewery Beerfarm has appointed former Stone & Wood sales lead Viren Goundrie as its Head of Sales.

The move follows Beerfarm acquiring Feral Brewing’s Bassendean production facilities last month, which will enable the business to more than triple its production capacity over the next five years.

Goundrie most recently led sales for Cape Byron Distillery for the past year. Prior to that, he held multiple sales roles at Stone & Wood between 2012-2023 – most recently as National Sales Manager. In that time, he helped grow the Stone & Wood business until it was bought by Lion. He is also a certified cicerone and sommelier.

Beerfarm aims to expand its product footprint nationally and internationally. The business said it will leverage Goundrie’s national beer experience to ensure its growing supply capacity meets the volume expectations of Australia’s larger retail liquor distributors.

Beerfarm Founder and Director Ian Atkins said: “We’re incredibly excited to have a seasoned professional like Viren onboard. Along with several other recent appointments, it shows that Beerfarm is attracting national talent from across the beverage industry. We’re aiming for growth and people are wanting to be a part of that story.

“We have always brewed great beer and now we can deliver more of it! As part of our national expansion, we’re focused on fully cracking the national liquor distributors and Viren’s industry knowledge, experience, and strong connections will help us get there.”

The brewery has most recently been awarded “Gold” for its IPL and IPA at the 2004 AIBA’s, along with the title of “2024 WA Beer Of the Year” by the WA Good Food Guide for their IPL and Royal Haze ranking No.14 in GABS 2024.
