Corinne Mossati launches third cocktail book

Legendary Australian drinks writer Corinne Mossati has launched her third book, Australian Native Edibles – Grow It, Eat It, Drink It.

Mossati is a passionate cocktail gardener and the Founder/Editor of Cocktails & Bars, The Gourmantic Garden and Gourmantic websites.

Her latest release follows the success of her books Grow Your Own Cocktail Garden and Shrubs & Botanical Sodas.

Australian Native Edibles – Grow It, Eat It, Drink It is aimed at home gardeners of all skill levels and garden spaces, from a sunny balcony and a modest courtyard to a large backyard garden.

“My aim through this book is to inspire you to grow Australian native edibles in your home garden, to source seeds and plants from First Nations businesses, and to use the unique flavours of these botanicals in everyday cooking and cocktails, regardless of the size of your garden,” said Mossati.

The book is the result of Mossati’s five-year journey to learn about Australian native plants by growing over 65 different varieties in her tiny courtyard garden, using the edibles in cooking, cocktails and botanical beverages while documenting everything in the process.

Featuring 50 Australian native plants – 42 edible and eight ornamental – and 25 food and cocktail recipes, the 240+ page book includes more than 130 colour photographs taken throughout the seasons on location in The Gourmantic Garden.

Part A – Australian Native Botanicals – dives into 50 alphabetised chapters of native plants, while Grow It features easy-to-follow grow guides, Eat It describes the edible parts with tasting notes, storage suggestions and numerous examples of culinary uses while Drinks It delves into spirit pairings, cocktails and botanical beverage suggestions. Each chapter includes ‘Tips & Tales from The Gourmantic Garden’ with personal stories and useful tips from Mossati’s small garden.

Part B – Food Recipes – details 12 step-by-step easy recipes showcasing Australian native ingredients in a variety of sweet and savoury dishes.

Part C – Cocktail Recipes – consists of 12 easy to mix cocktail recipes featuring Australian native ingredients including non-alcoholic and low-alcohol variations plus a bonus cocktail recipe from Grow Your Own Cocktail Garden.

Four appendices follow with practical resources that include how to smoke native seeds, how to deal with common garden pests and diseases organically, DIY organic sprays, digital resources and further reading.

Australian Native Edibles – Grow It, Eat It, Drink It is available as a digital download for $37 here.
