Whisky Tasmania Limited, owner of Hellyers Road Distillery, has announced the appointment of Simon Durrant as a Non-Executive Director.
Durrant most recently served as Managing Director for Campari Group across Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands and has more than three decades of global experience in premium beverages. His previous roles include senior positions at Diageo and Accolade Wines.
Since departing Campari in 2024, Durrant has joined Sydney Rum Distillery as a Non-Executive Director and is also a Board advisor to SOLBEVI, a Melbourne-based beverage start-up with a focus on limoncello.
Chair of Whisky Tasmania Limited Lesley French said: “Simon’s depth of experience in the global drinks industry and his track record of strategic leadership make him a natural fit for Hellyers Road. He understands the opportunity for Australian single malt on the world stage – and how to build the capability to seize it.”
Durrant said: “Hellyers Road is one of Australia’s great whisky stories. There’s substance here -real heritage, remarkable stock and a serious ambition for the future. I’m delighted to be joining the Board at such an exciting time.”
Australia’s oldest operating single malt whisky distillery, Hellyers Road announced the successful closure of a crowdfunded equity raise in June 2024, achieving $4.38 million from more than 1300 investors in just under two months.
Its 21-Year-Old Peated Cask Finish 20F05c01 won Australia’s Best Single Malt Whisky at the 2025 World Whiskies Awards.
