ALDI $4.50 pinot grigio wins Gold

ALDI wines range from $4.59 to $15 have taken home a swag of gold medals at the Melbourne International Wine Competition.

The Melbourne International Wine Competition is highly recognised for its expert judging panel comprised of industry buyers and is part of the respected International Beverage Competition Series. This year saw the judges taste more than 1000 wines across over 50 categories originating from seven countries.

The awards scooped by ALDI included a Gold medal for South Point Estate Pinot Grigio 2025, which retails for just $4.59. 

Three wines won Double Gold: Corte Carista Delle Venezie Pinot Grigio 2024 ($9.99), Blackstone Paddock Shiraz 2022 ($18.99) and EL Toro Macho Bobal Tempranillo Reserva 2019 ($8.99)

ALDI Australia Wine Buying Director Jason Bowyer said: “We’re proud to be celebrating another incredible year of ALDI wines continuing to impress and win accolades at the Melbourne International Wine Competition. These outstanding awards are a testament to the exceptional quality of our wines, sourced both locally and abroad, and highlights the incredible value we’re able to offer ALDI shoppers.”

Ten wines were awarded Gold, plus five took home Silver and six won Bronze.

Western Australia Chardonnay Wine of the Year was Blackstone Paddock Limited Release 2024 Chardonnay, which will be in stores soon.

Italy Pinot Grigio Wine of the Year was Corte Carista Delle Venezie Pinot Grigio 2024, while Italy Chianti of the Year went to Corte Carista Chianti Superiore ($11.99).

Spain Red Wine Reserva of the Year was EL Toro Macho Bobal Tempranillo Reserva 2019.
