Breakfast Creek Hotel to unveil major transformation

Queensland’s iconic Breakfast Creek Hotel has been given a $2.75million transformation, which will be unveiled to patrons this month.

The significant upgrade is the first stage of the investment, marking the beginning of a multi-phase revitalisation project that aims to breathe new life into the legacy-laden venue while preserving the original character of the site.

Phase 1, due to complete in November 2025, will see a complete renewal of the Spanish Garden Steakhouse as well as the introduction of a new Pizza Kitchen in the beer garden.

ALH Managing Director Paul Carew said: “This is more than just a facelift. We’ve channelled the pioneering spirit that defines the Breakfast Creek into vibrant, contemporary spaces that set the tone for modern pub culture.

“This is one of the most iconic pubs in Queensland, if not Australia. It’s important that we continue to honour its legacy, while also ensuring a best-in-class hospitality experience for everyone that comes through the doors.”

The renowned Spanish Garden Steakhouse will receive a complete interior design refresh, including a dry-age cabinet at the entrance, showcasing a greater selection of dry-aged meats and new premium cuts from local producers like Darling Downs, Nolans, Five Founders and Black Onyx.

The updated menu will keep classics like the Idaho potato and coleslaw, a 60-year venue staple and guest favourite. The Creek will now offer an extensive cocktail selection and expanded wine list, while retaining the 135-year-old tradition of serving XXXX off the wood.

Breakfast Creek Hotel Publican Mike Rodgers said: “This place has always been the people’s pub, it’s where mates catch up and locals feel at home.

“We are still the same Brekky Creek that every Queenslander knows and loves. With summer approaching, we’re stoked to welcome folks back through the doors to experience the updates to the Spanish Garden, as well as the new Pizza Kitchen, for themselves.

“We’ve got cold beer, cracking food, and a seat in our beer garden with mates. That’s what the Creek’s all about.”

Upgrades including new private event spaces and outdoor dining areas to be revealed in 2026.
