A raccoon has been discovered comatose after breaking into a liquor store, smashing bottles and drinking the contents.
And he had good taste in spirits, heading straight for the Scotch whisky and bourbon.
Employees at the Ashland ABC store, located in the US state of Virginia, found the raccoon passed out in the bathroom.
“I personally like raccoons,” said Samantha Martin, an officer who works at the local animal control, Hanover County Animal Protection and Shelter.
“They are funny little critters. He fell through one of the ceiling tiles and went on a full-blown rampage, drinking everything.”
Officer Martin took the raccoon to the animal shelter to sober up.
“After a few hours of sleep and zero signs of injury (other than maybe a hangover and poor life choices), he was safely released back to the wild, hopefully having learned that breaking and entering is not the answer,” the shelter said.

The incident’s popularity led to the Hanover County Animal Protection & Shelter releasing t-shirts and hoodies featuring an image of the raccoon with the caption “Trashed Panda.”
Proceeds from the sales will go towards equipment to assist in wildlife calls, field officer training and shelter animal care.
