The Tropic brings Med vibes to Terrigal

Uninterrupted ocean views, vibrant Mediterranean flavours and a sharp cocktail list await at Terrigal Pavilion’s new restaurant The Tropic.

The 280-seat restaurant is the final piece of the puzzle of the multi-level venue, following the launch of the ‘Pav’ in November, alongside takeaway The General Store.

Located on the ground floor, The Tropic features expansive ocean views from every table, thanks to custom-made floor-to-ceiling windows.

A 12-metre-long, custom-glazed bar made with lemon tart-coloured Spanish-tiles and an oversized bullnose edge serves as a monument within the space, while behind it, The Tropic’s kitchen team have created a Modern Australian menu with Mediterranean influences.

The menu features raw and cold dishes to start, including shucked-to-order oysters served on ice with lemon and a house-made chardonnay mignonette and beef tartare The Tropic-style, with capers, shallots, pickles, parsley, quail egg yolk and a secret dressing.

The small plates include a selection of antipasto, as well as burrata and pesto, pickled white and brown anchovies and roast pumpkin hummus, while for mains there’s a selection of pastas as well as the lightly-seared goldband snapper fillet, grilled wagyu flank and the free-range roast chicken with thyme and lemon.

Terrigal Pavilion co-owner Rob Domjen said: “This is a space that’s made for bringing people together over good food, good drinks and an unbeatable location.”

The drinks list has been created with celebrations in mind, featuring more than 90 bottles of champagne and wine, including magnums of Louis Roederer and AIX, as well as signature cocktails such as the Tropic Margarita and a twist on an Aperol Spritz with the Haven Sunset.
