The team behind Sydney restaurant Rovollo will open an intimate Italian wine bar called The Heritage Room in the CBD in September.
The family-run Esper Group will add another dimension to 25 Martin Place’s dynamic dining precinct with the launch of The Heritage Room, which will be located just a few metres from its first city venue.
The 30-seat enoteca will feature a curated list of wines, from bold reds such as Barolo and Brunello di Montalcino, to Tuscany’s most famous white, Vernaccia di San Gimignano, with plenty available by the glass.
Inspired by traditional Italian wine bars where the food plays just as important a role as the drinks, The Heritage Room’s menu will be headlined by a rotating selection of artisan Tuscan cheeses and meats hand-selected by Esper Group executive chef Cami Feliciano.

Esper Group director Andrew Wallace said: “We love the intimate dining experience we’ve created at Rovollo but due to its size we haven’t been able to accommodate the many requests we’ve had from guests who are looking to either pop in for a wine, or for an exclusive space.
“With The Heritage Room, we are creating something that’s intentionally designed to meet their needs, alongside the service and experience they know and love.”
The Heritage Room will have its own working wine cellar containing more than 150 bottles from some of the world’s most acclaimed wine regions.
The Heritage Room will also be home to a private dining room, purpose-built for long lunches, dinners and special events for up to 25 guests.
“A lot of private dining in Sydney is an after-thought,” Wallace said. “This won’t just be a space to gather, it’ll be immersive and customisable with thoughtful touches that leave people feeling like the room has been created just for them.”
Feliciano’s private dining room set menus will complement the Italian-led wine list and will be focussed on indulgent grills like Tuscan bistecca and infused, dry-aged steaks.
The Heritage Room by Rovollo wine bar will be open from midday until late from Tuesday to Saturday, with the private dining room able to be booked on request.
