Moët & Chandon named title sponsor of Australian Grand Prix

Moët & Chandon, the Official Champagne of Formula 1®, has announced its title sponsorship of the 2027 Australian Grand Prix.

After acting as title sponsor of the Formula 1® Moët & Chandon Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps, the Maison continues its journey to Melbourne.

The Maison’s relationship with Australia dates back to 1888, when its first shipment of champagne arrived on the occasion of Melbourne’s Centennial Exhibition.

Sport, and notably Formula 1®, holds a particularly important place in this shared history. From 1985 to 1997, Moët & Chandon was present on the podium of the Formula 1® Australian Grand Prix, sprayed in celebration by the era’s great champions, including Gerhard Berger, Nigel Mansell, Nelson Piquet, Alain Prost, Michael Schumacher and Ayrton Senna, to name a few.

More recently, the Formula 1® Australian Grand Prix has continued to live at the heart of Moët & Chandon’s Formula 1® story. In 2025, the season opener in Melbourne marked the Maison’s grand return to the sport as Official Champagne. To toast the occasion,
Moët & Chandon’s famed champagne cork-shaped hot-air balloon, ‘The Spirit of 1743’, sailed across the city’s skies, echoing a journey it took in Australia almost 30 years ago.

President and CEO of Moët & Chandon Sibylle Scherer said: “Melbourne holds a special place in Moët & Chandon’s story. Australia is one of the world’s great Champagne markets and Melbourne gives this title sponsorship a resonance that extends across the Asia-Pacific region. Being there is meaningful: it allows us to celebrate a market that means so much to the Maison, while sharing the joy of Moët & Chandon with an even wider Formula 1® community.”

Australian Grand Prix Corporation CEO Travis Auld said: “Moët & Chandon has long been synonymous with excellence, celebration and unforgettable moments, making them the perfect partner as we continue to showcase the Australian Grand Prix as a truly world-class experience.

“We look forward to working with Moët & Chandon as the 2027 title partner, to set a new benchmark for luxury sporting experiences for fans at the Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit.”
