AHA National President David Basheer has been re-elected unopposed to a second term – along with his entire senior executive team in a move described by the organisation as a “steady ship”.

The third-generation hotelier, who is also the AHA SA President, was first elected President last September. Basheer currently owns the Strathmore Hotel, Woodville Hotel and Sailmaster Tavern with his family.

Basheer said: “It’s a great honour to be re-elected unopposed for a second term as AHA National President and I thank members for the vote of confidence.

“These are challenging times for the hospitality sector – especially when it comes to issues like migration and Working Holiday Makers.

“I look forward to continuing to work closely with the executive team and AHA National CEO Stephen Ferguson on making a real difference for hoteliers across Australia.”

Also re-elected unopposed was the national Senior Vice-President – long-serving AHA NSW President (and former National President) – Scott Leach

AHA NT President Paul Palmer and AHA Tasmania President Ben Carpenter were both re-elected unopposed as AHA National Vice President and Secretary/Treasurer respectively.
