Grammy-nominated artist Janelle Monáe has teamed up with BACARDÍ Rum to create her own signature Halloween cocktail, the BACARDÍ Spookito.

Described by Vogue as “Halloween royalty”, Monáe is renowned for her yearly costumes, which have included everything from The Fifth Element’s Diva Plavalaguna to the Cat in the Hat and a headless bride. She’s on a self-confessed mission to become as synonymous with Halloween as Mariah Carey is with Christmas.

This year she describes herself as “The Cool Ghoul, The Ghostest with the Mostest, Piper the Party Starter.”

Meanwhile, her spooky twist on the classic mojito features BACARDÍ Superior Rum, fresh lime, mint and a splash of grenadine for a frightfully delicious twist on the classic. 

BACARDÍ Spookito 

• 1.5 oz BACARDÍ Superior 
• 1 oz Lime juice 
• 0.5 Simple Syrup 
• 0.25 oz Grenadine 
• 8-10 mint leaves 
• Top with soda water 

Method: Muddle mint with lime and syrup; add BACARDÍ and crushed ice. Stir gently to combine, then top with soda water. Drizzle grenadine over the top of the cocktail for a spooky effect and garnish with a mint sprig.
