Proof & Company has expanded its portfolio of independent spirit brands by welcoming Tasmania’s Waubs Harbour Distillery.
Waubs Harbour Distillery was founded by a Tasmanian family – brothers Tim and Rob Polmear and Tim’s wife, Bec.

A question was posed to seasoned distiller Rob: “If you could make whisky your way, using the best equipment in the perfect location, how would you do it?”
The result – maritime Tasmanian single malt whisky, made, matured and bottled just metres from the ocean on the far east coast of Tasmania.
Proof & Company General Manager Australia Damian Kaehler said: “I am proud to welcome Waubs Harbour to the Proof & Company family. Their dedication to producing an exceptional maritime single malt whisky, rooted deeply in the rich provenance of Tasmania, perfectly aligns with our commitment to craft and quality.
“It’s a testament to their courage and meticulous approach that they’ve harnessed the rugged beauty of Tasmania,
distilling not just whisky, but the very essence of its origin. Here’s to celebrating what makes Tasmanian whisky rare, premium, and unparalleled.”
Waubs Harbour Distillery joins Proof & Company’s diverse portfolio of premium brands, which include Ferrand Cognac, Plantation Rum, Never Never Distilling Co Gin, The Everleigh Bottling Co., Mancino Vermouth and Arquitecto Tequila.
“Waubs Harbour is thrilled to be partnering with a well-respected company that has similar high standards to our own,” said Tim Polmear.
“We look forward to building Waubs Harbour together domestically in Australia and beyond.”
Waubs Harbour scoops top medal at World Whisky Masters
Waubs Harbour was recently awarded the highest accolade at this year’s World Whisky Masters.
The prestigious international spirits competition by The Spirits Business recognises the finest World Whisky brands on the world stage, as judged in a blind tasting in London. It awarded Waubs Harbour with a Master medal for its Port Storm whisky, as well as Gold medals for its Waubs Original and Founder’s Reserve whiskies.R
Regarding the Port Storm Whisky, one judge said: “Quite smooth for the higher ABV. Woody and wine notes present with heat on the aftertaste.” Founders Reserve impressed with its “floral, nutty, matured oak, dried stone fruits, baked pecan cake, and a rounded long layered finish”.

Waubs Original Single Malt Whisky is distilled and matured in American Oak ex-Bourbon casks married with ex-Tawny Port casks just metres from the ocean and covered in salty air. The American Oak ex-Bourbon casks highlight the Waubs maritime salted toffee characters overlayed with creamy raisin and butterscotch thanks to the French Oak ex-Tawny Port casks. Bottled at 43%.
Port Storm Single Malt Whisky – notes of poached pear and sultana, brown sugar syrup layered with hot custard. At 48%, the salty brininess amplifies and balances the sweetness while adding complexity to the oak.
Founder’s Reserve Single Malt Whisky – the highest quality ex-Tawny Port casks as rated by head distiller Rob Polmear are reserved to be bottled at cask strength of 62%. The high strength retains oils and intense flavour. Big sultana port notes with a hint of chocolate and long salted caramel finish.
