Merivale extends trading for Rugby World Cup

Merivale has announced that selected venues will be extending trading hours this Sunday to show Australia’s first match in the Rugby World Cup in France.

The FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023™ generated a $2.98 billion rise in spending in NSW, according to financial infrastructure platform Airwallex, with pubs, clubs, parks and public venues across NSW packed with people watching the tournament.

Merivale CEO Justin Hemmes said that after witnessing the incredible scenes when over 40,000 people packed into Merivale venues to cheer on the Matildas in the quarter final, he wants to keep the vibes high across Sydney.

Game One in the Rugby World Cup is Australia vs Georgia with a kick-off time of 2am AEST Sunday 10 September. The below venues have extended trading until 4am on Sunday 10 September.

The Royal Bondi will be getting sports fans warmed up with DJ’s keeping the crowds energised until kick-off at 2am.

Merivale takes 49% off group drinks orders

Merivale is also keeping its party atmosphere going following the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023™ by offering 49% off drinks for group bookings at its venues throughout the month of September.

Merivale will offer 49% off all drinks for the first hour of booking for eight or more people at all participating Merivale pubs and bars in September.

The offer will run until Thursday, 28 September.

The drinks offer can be redeemed at 36 Merivale venues across Sydney including The Alex, The Vic on the Park, The Newport, The Beresford, The Royal Bondi, and cocktail bars such as Charlie Parker’s, Palmer and Co, and Little Felix.

“The atmosphere created by people coming together to cheer on the Matildas is something we haven’t seen in a very long time,” Hemmes said.

“We love that social connection on a large scale, it brings such a fabulous energy to our venues. We want to continue this atmosphere of celebration and good times as we move closer to summer when Sydney truly comes alive.”
