Accor Stadium has ordered an additional 6800 litres of XXXX Gold to quench the thirst of more than 10,000 Brisbane fans who will descend on Sydney for the NRL grand final on Sunday.
The Broncos will take on the Penrith Panthers in the men’s decider, while the Newcastle Knights will battle the Gold Coast Titans in the women’s decider.
More than 120,000 cups of beer are expected to be consumed at the grand final, with an additional 6800 litres of XXXX expected to be served to Broncos fans.
Accor Stadium general manager of catering Mark Adler told The Australian: “We have significantly increased our XXXX Gold order this week to meet the anticipated demand of Queensland fans.
“We have used the 2015 grand final as a guide when Queenslanders drank us dry of XXXX Gold when the Broncos played the Cowboys.
“We expect to sell upwards of 120,000 cups of beer (425ml per cup) with Hahn SuperDry 3.5 and XXXX Gold accounting for almost half the total consumption as the two most popular beers in the general public areas.”
There will be 60 bars at the 85,000-seat stadium selling beer for the match. Out of the 120,000 cups of beer, 30,000 will be Hahn SuperDry 3.5 and 25,000 XXXX Gold.
Other beers available in the public bars will be Heineken 0.0, Heineken 3, Stone & Wood and Green Coast Crisp. In the Premium areas fans can choose from Tooheys New, Hahn SuperDry, Stone & Wood Pacific Ale, Heineken, Kirin, Furphy and James Boag’s Premium.
Spirit fans are expected to consume 80,000 beverages, including Canadian Club, Jim Beam & Cola, Gravity Seltzer, Brookvale Union Ginger Beer and Bundaberg Rum & Cola Mid Strength.
There are also expected to be 11,000 glasses of wine and 35,000 bottles of water sold.
