Corryton Burge releases sparkling wine collection

Corryton Burge has welcomed its inaugural Sparkling Collection, which includes two pinot noir chardonnays and a sparkling red.

The Sparkling Collection features the NV Sparkling Pinot Noir Chardonnay ($28); 2019 Martha Mae Tasmanian Sparkling Pinot Noir Chardonnay ($45); and NV Sparkling Red ($28). The new products join the growing Corryton Burge portfolio, which includes wines from the Barossa Valley, Eden Valley, Adelaide Hills, and Tasmania’s Derwent River.

The NV Sparkling Pinot Noir Chardonnay has a fine, persistent bead in a stunning pale gold colour. The wine opens with aromas of fresh strawberries and shortbread, before developing into a balanced palate of delicate brioche and crisp, natural acidity.

The 2019 Martha Mae Tasmanian Sparkling Pinot Noir Chardonnay is an ode to the Burge family’s great-grandmother. It is
crafted from a stellar vintage in Tasmania, resulting in aromas of wild florals and fresh beach spray with hints of almond pastry and vanilla cream. On the palate, notes of white peach and strawberries tie in with toasted brioche and marzipan.

The NV Sparkling Red was aged in small, old oak barrels before undergoing secondary fermentation in bottle and maturation on yeast lees. Expect aromas of dark berries with baking spices, toasted oak, and hints of sweet vanilla. On the palate, it’s dark berries with dark chocolate and espresso.

Corryton Burge is led by siblings Trent and Amelia Burge, sixth-generation Barossans, together with their parents and iconic Barossa Valley wine figures Grant and Helen Burge.

“Sparkling wine has always been synonymous with celebration in the Burge family,” said Trent Burge.

“Whether it’s a wedding, birth, graduation, or anniversary – a bottle of sparkling is the perfect pairing to capture the essence of that moment. We hope people reach for Corryton Burge sparkling to mark any chapter in their lives.”

“The Barossa Valley and Burge family are two integral pieces of the South Australian wine story and we’re so proud to be showcasing them to a new generation of wine lovers through Corryton Burge,” said Amelia Burge.

“We’re only just getting started sharing a new side of our family’s winemaking legacy and we hope Corryton Burge is the epitome of the joy and passion we feel for wine.”

The sparkling are all available for purchase online at corrytonburge.com; the Corryton Burge Cellar Door at Underground Barossa; and at select independent retailers across South Australia.
