Château Tanunda welcomes the Year of the Snake

Château Tanunda has unveiled its 2023 Limited Reserve Grand Barossa Shiraz Magnum, marking the auspicious arrival of the Year of the Snake.

The fifth instalment in Château Tanunda’s Lunar New Year collectable series, the Year of the Snake Magnum has been created to epitomise Château Tanunda’s commitment to excellence and elegance.

Each 1.5-litre bottle is housed in a striking red box designed for gifting while also paying homage to the vibrant colours of the Lunar New Year and embodying the festival’s spirit of renewal and prosperity.

“The Lunar New Year collection has become one of our most eagerly awaited traditions,” said Château Tanunda Managing Director Michelle Geber.

“The Year of the Snake edition continues this legacy, showcasing an intricately designed label that captures the grace and mystique of the snake, a symbol of wisdom and determination.”

The reserve wine is made from a selection of superior Shiraz vineyard sites across the Barossa with the aim of truly representing this famous wine style. Careful blending and maturation in a combination of French and American oak in the Château Tanunda cellars has created a wine with lifted aromas of blackberry, plum, and black pepper accompanied by spicy, dark berry fruits on the palate.

Established in 1890, Château Tanunda celebrates its 135th anniversary in 2025. It is known as the birthplace of the Barossa Valley and home to a selection of the region’s oldest vines.

The Limited Reserve Grand Barossa Shiraz 2023 ‘Year of the Snake’ Edition Magnum is available from www.chateautanunda.com and select independent retailers across all states except Western Australia for RRP: $79.
