Spirits and Cocktails Australia (SCA) has announced it is restructuring, with Chief Executive Greg Holland stepping down from his role.
The national body representing major spirits producers operating in Australia said it is entering the new term of government with a “renewed organisational structure and a sharpened approach to advocacy”.
SCA said it will continue to build on its strong track record of advocating for the policy reform required to drive growth and investment in Australia’s vibrant spirits industry.
SCA Chair Dan Hamilton said the peak body would continue to advocate for the reform of Australia’s spirits excise system, the single largest barrier to growth facing spirits manufacturers operating in Australia.
The new organisational structure would see SCA become a more focused and agile peak body. The organisation will be focused primarily on federal engagement and regulation, drawing upon greater member contributions in its day-to-day activities. As part of this restructure, a new Executive Director position will be created with a public recruitment process to follow.

Hamilton thanked Holland (above) for his more than five years of dedicated leadership and advocacy.
“On behalf of the board and membership of Spirits and Cocktails Australia, I would like to thank Greg for his significant contribution to advancing the growth of the Australian spirits industry and his commitment to meaningful policy reform,” he said.
“Greg took up this role in 2019, shortly before a period of notable uncertainty for our industry with the impact of COVID-19 on the hospitality sector.
“In his five and a half years as Chief Executive of SCA, Australia’s spirits industry has grown considerably. SCA has championed the economic contribution of spirits production and manufacturing in Australia and its potential to be an export powerhouse, akin to our wine industry.”
SCA will appoint an interim Executive Director who will be tasked with managing this period of change while a permanent Executive Director can be appointed via a competitive recruitment process.
