Château Tanunda unveils its 2025 Collection

Château Tanunda has released its 2025 Collection, coinciding with its 135th anniversary of crafting wines from rare Barossa old vines.

“We are thrilled to share our 2025 Collection release wines which celebrates our rich heritage across the last 135 years while also looking to the future of our winery and the Barossa region,” said Château Tanunda Managing Director Michelle Geber.

“The wines featured in this year’s Collection are a true reflection of our home of the Barossa and perfectly embody our focus on utilising traditional winemaking techniques with modern technology to capture a sense of time and place with a particular emphasis on our rare old vines.”

This year’s Collection features new vintage releases across Château Tanunda’s luxury ranges, including The Château Single Vineyard, Old Vine Expressions and the flagship: The Everest Shiraz. There are 12 wines in this year’s release, spanning four vintages ranging from 2021 to 2024.

The Everest Shiraz 2021 is the pinnacle of Château Tanunda’s 2025 Collection. This wine is crafted from high-quality grapes that have been hand-picked, basket pressed and neither fined nor filtered before maturing in superior French oak barrels.

Senior Winemaker Jeremy Ottawa said: “We experienced ideal weather during the flowering and ripening periods during the 2021 vintage which has resulted in wonderful flavour development in our red wines to boast rich fruit notes, exceptional tannins and great length.”

Château Tanunda’s Old Vine Expressions range is another highlight of the 2025 Collection. These wines are a showcase of Château Tanunda’s rare Ancestor (125+ years of age) and Centenarian Vines (100+ years of age) which are some of the oldest producing examples in the world.

The 2025 Collection includes the 50 Year Old Vines Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 and the 50 Year Old Vines Shiraz 2022; the 100 Year Old Vines Semillon 2024 and the 100 Year Old Vines Shiraz 2021; as well as the 150 Year Old Vines Grenache 2022.

The 2025 Collection also sees the inclusion of two recently launched wines from Château Tanunda: 2023 Old Vine Shiraz and 2023 Old Vine Cabernet Shiraz. These two ultra-premium wines, both priced at $50, mark the entry to winery’s Old Vine Expressions range.

Château Tanunda Proprietor John Geber said: “Our Old Vine Expressions range honours the rich viticultural history of the Barossa and our very unique position here at Château Tanunda of having access to some of the rarest old vine examples in the world.

“What makes these old vines so special is that they have grown on original roots and survived decades to develop fruit of the highest quality.

Five new vintage releases from The Château Single Vineyard range closes out the 2025 Collection: The Château Single Vineyard Eden Valley Chardonnay 2024, The Château Single Vineyard Grenache 2023, The Château Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2023, and The Château Single Vineyard Shiraz 2023.
