Suntory Bar brings immersive experiences to Sydney

An epic residency called Suntory Bar is unfolding at Prefecture 48, Sydney’s first dedicated Japanese dining precinct.

Running until 8 November, guests can enjoy a curated menu featuring culinary collaborations and inventive cocktails with Suntory’s iconic whiskies and spirits – including Toki Japanese Whisky, Jim Beam, Maker’s Mark, Roku gin and Haku vodka.

The immersive experience even includes a snack creation by renowned Japanese chef Tetsuya Wakuda.

“I have a deep appreciation for Suntory and the company’s dedication to tradition, craftsmanship and attention to detail – it resonates with me and it’s the same philosophy I bring to my food,” said Chef Tetsuya.

“I’m honoured to be part of this project and to contribute a dish for Suntory Bar that complements their exceptional spirits and helps bring this unique experience to life.”

Spanning two levels within the heritage-listed precinct, Suntory Bar is an ideal destination for nomikai, Japan’s tradition of post-work socialising. Catering to whisky connoisseurs and discerning Sydneysiders, guests will enjoy a distinctive Japanese drinking experience right in the heart of the city.

Throughout the residency, Suntory Bar is hosting international talent, offering limited-time cocktails and dishes alongside its regular menu.

Last Wednesday Suntory Bar hosted Jim Meehan (above), one of the world’s most celebrated bartenders.

The James Beard Award winner and author of Meehan’s Bartender Manual brought his legendary hospitality and cocktail craft to Suntory Bar for one night only. Guests were treated to an exclusive drinks menu inspired by Jim’s impressive and lengthy bar career.

Drinks included:

  • Malabar Silver Corn Fizz – Maker’s Mark, corn water, Malabar honey syrup, egg white and sparkling wine
  • Longball – Haku Vodka, Oolong tea syrup, lemon juice and sparkling wine
  • Southern Cola – Jim Beam Black, Nonino amaro, cola and lime ice cube
